Displaced Moss Heart

Someone went along the path,
Bent on destruction.
They scraped away bits of moss,
Stomped them to the ground.

I found this piece of moss on the steps,
Roots in the air.

A perfect heart.

Then I picked it up,
And returned it to its home.

A Muddy Footprint and a Twig

For some reason this heart touched me deeply.
Maybe it's the simplicity ...
But when I saw it I knew it was

One of my favorites.

Squashed Acorn Heart

It fell from the tree last fall.
And survived the cold of winter ...

It shouldn't have stayed so close to the sidewalk!
To get stepped on, squashed.

But then ... it wouldn't have revealed it's heart!

Doodle Screen Hearts

I found a tiny heart of torn window screen ... but had trouble taking it's picture.
I chanced upon a small doodle pad that my daughter had been using.
Perfect!!!

Sidewalk Spot

Something was spilled here.
I think.
Or maybe it's another of those weird fungus thingies I see occasionally.

Whatever it is,
it captured MY heart!

Cloud Tree Heart

Yesterday started out beautiful.
Warm and sunny.

By late afternoon, however, the temperature dropped,
The winds picked up ...
And huge clouds started to build to the west.

This heart cloud appeared above the house
Sneaking between two fir trees, warming my soul.

Then it started to snow.
Just a little ... "chunky rain".

Now it's just cold.
But my soul is still warm.

Poppin' Up Daisies ...

The daisies have been popping up in grassy areas all over town.

Imagine my joy to see
this cute daisy heart!

Upside Down!

I heard the eagle chittering and calling behind the trees.
I've been trying to take his picture for weeks!

Just a glimpse through the trees and he was gone.
No eagle pictures today ...

But right there in front of me was this fantastic up-side-down heart!

The eagle can wait!

Moss Heart with Aura

I found this piece of moss on a curb near a busy street.

I marvel at how these hearts reveal themselves ...
To everyone!

But only a few actually SEE them.

Diggin' in the Dirt

The chickens got out the other day, free ranging through the yard and beyond. They had a ball! I hated to put them back in the pen, but it's for their own safety. We have owls, hawks, eagles, possums, skunks, raccoons, and the occasional cougar -- all of whom would love a nice chicken dinner.

During their day of foraging, the ladies scraped and clawed everything in sight. Including this patch of dirt.

I found the heart after the chickens had been rounded up and, with much complaining, deposited back into safety.

Decorative Tree Heart

I was driving to Canby for Gleaner's site cleanup when I noticed this tree near the Barlow Pioneer Cemetery. I pulled over and took a quick shot. It's not the best, but you can still see the way this tree has drooped down it's branches - to become a heart.
