(Note: Our cold spell has broken at last, and I will be spending a whole lot more time visiting you, my friends - and catching up on what I've missed the past couple of weeks! Thank you so much for understanding - I hope you are all staying warm and happy!)

Perhaps you've seen them around YOUR town ...

Paper hearts hanging in stores and restaurants ...

Fund raisers for various charities -

I found paper hearts at my local market; and decided to do some research.

What I found was our local chapter of CCA (Children's Cancer Association).

And fell in love with their mission statement.

"We prescribe joy.

For children diagnosed with serious illness and their families, every moment is precious. At CCA, our goal is to transform as many of those moments as possible — with joy.

Why joy?

Because in the fight against devastating illness, joy is often forgotten. Because joy connects us with the power of hope, comfort, and happiness and helps families and children feel uplifted when their lives have been turned upside down. Because joy is something every child deserves."

 In a break from "Guest Heart Thursday" tradition, I am issuing a challenge to you, the heart seekers of the world - to buy a heart - or make a donation to a charity local to your area, take a picture of your heart, and post it on your blog sometime in February!

It doesn't have to be today - there is still a lot more time!

Not only will you find a lovely heart to share ... but you will help to spread love and joy around the world - and help someone who needs it desperately in the process!

CCA Hearts of Joy

Our local KPTV Channel 12's "Out and About" guy, Joe V., caught my attention this morning as he featured "CCA's Hearts of Joy" - the 7th annual "Valentine's Day for CCA" campaign.

All proceeds from this campaign go to CCA - "Children's Cancer Association" as they bring "JoyRx to seriously ill children and their families, in the hospital and at home."

What a wonderful way to share their HEART!

As Joe finished his segment, the camera caught him racing outside ...
Why?
Well if you look at the bottom of the screen, you will see on the crawl the word ...
"SNOW"!!!

Sure enough, it is snowing outside!

And of course making hearts is my favorite part of a snow "event"!
(Our little skiff of the white stuff cannot in all good conscience be called a "snow storm"!!!)
