Paper Bag Heart

I was walking in the nature preserve again this morning, waiting for Mom to get off work. Near the picnic table were the remains of a late night party - empty alcohol containers, a bag full of clothes, and lots of trash.

As I started picking up the trash to deposit it into the garbage can (handily located about 3 feet away!), I noticed this paper bag ... wet from the overnight rain ... had become a heart!

Fanno Creek Reflections and Heart

I walked along the banks of Fanno Creek, searching for signs of spring ... I found a creek which carries the scars from the ravages of wintertime floods ...

Debris caught in trees and shrubs give mute testimony to the fact that this is an urban park, smack in the middle of a fairly large city ...

A splash of white caught my eye ...

An egret!

Then I saw ... a broken heart.

Even though winter has not loosened it's grip ... there is still beauty to be found here.

The Heart of Fanno Creek Nature Park

I leave the house early on Thursdays, when it's time to go to Tigard to pick up mom at the Senior Center. That way I get to take a walk around the nearby Fanno Creek Nature Park.

That's where I found this tree -
It's scarred trunk showing the
True Heart of Fanno Creek.

Pussywillow

The pussywillows are out in force at the Fanno Creek Nature Preserve in Tigard.
I walked there, admiring the bright white balls of fluff high up in the trees.

This one had fallen to the ground on the footbridge.
If you enlarge the photo you will also see
That it is a cute, fuzzy little Heart of Spring!
