Once again I must deviate from my usual format for Guest Heart Thursday.

My Tech guy sat down to check out my computer ... which works for short periods of time then "freezes" solid (by solid I mean even the mouse's optic light goes out!).

His exact words, after a few minutes, were "How are your finances?"

Uh oh.

So it will be a while before I can get back to computer business as usual - at least until I can afford to get a new hard drive!!! I will still be visiting YOUR hearts - I just can't comment - and it takes a loooooooonng time to load!!!

Arrrrgh!

 On the bright side ... I now have more time to be outside searching for the hearts in my world!!!

(Due to computer issues ... arrrrgh! ... I found myself unable to comment on your INCREDIBLE hearts last week. I did visit you all - and hope - computer willing - to do double comments this week!)

I love visiting JM over at "Lisbon and the Sunshine Coast" ... I get to feast my soul on beautiful scenery, warmth, and JM's incredible "decay" photos - all in the same place!

And sometimes he posts a heart - do you see the ones in this fence?

I already knew Teri and her sister are fellow heart seekers ... and that Teri is an excellent photographer.

I've long admired "Johnny Nutcase" over at "Count Your Chicken! We're Taking Over!".

And not just because of the incredibly awesome name of her blog.

Oh no, that's just the beginning.

You see, "Johnny Nutcase" is in reality Jill of "Jill Wussow Photography".

Jill is a self-described "nomadic field biologist", whose photographs will take your breath away ... and whose job description will make you turn green with envy.

And she's cute and funny too!!!

P.S. - Do you see the heart in this baby bird shot? It's in the feathers right between the eyes of this adorable little guy!

A Tangled Heart

I left my sewing machine sitting out last night ... big mistake.

When I woke up this morning, I found my darling and intrepid kitty had found a new toy.

Every bit of thread on the spool was pulled off -- tangled thread stretched back and forth across the room.

Every little bit.

As I was cleaning up the mess, trying not to trip on the nearly invisible thread, I came across this tangled heart.

And when my kitty wanted to cuddle ... I let her.

Another Demolition Heart

The demolition crew at the former mega-church has been hard at work - but not on the weekends. I took advantage of the quiet time yesterday, and went for a walk.

Rubble - cement and rebar, giant wooden beams, pipes and wires ... in piles strewn across the property - some higher than my head.

I was nearly overwhelmed with the scope of the destruction.

Then I looked down. A small piece of insulation nestled next to a piece of broken concrete caught my eye.

And my heart.

 "At 12:00 in the afternoon on January 10th, 2013, the suffering of our spirited, sweet, funny, strong, beloved Leontien ended and she left this world for the next.  It was a peaceful passing, and she was surrounded by her loved ones when she went.  We would like to thank each and every one of you for the support and love that you have sent her and her family through this difficult time.  Words cannot possibly express how much it has meant to her and to each and every one of us.  It is safe to say that Leontien was a true inspiration for many, and it is our hope that she will continue to be so."

The world is a little dimmer; heaven a little brighter.

Leontien ... you will be missed.

 I used to live in Colorado ... and fell in love with the beauty of the Pikes Peak region.

Although I have been in Oregon for years, I still find myself missing the raw beauty of Colorado.

When I need a Colorado fix, I come here!

I especially love it when Al surprises me with a heart - do you see it? It's part of that beautiful red rock ... just under the tree in the center of the photo!

I've always been fascinated with paper dolls - ever since I was little and used to cut them out of "Sears" catalogs.  I still love paper dolls - and "Marges8's Blog" is the place I go to when I feel nostalgic for that innocent time in my life!

But paper dolls aren't all you will find when you visit Marge.

You will, here too, find a lovely friend.

Who has touched my heart in so many ways (and not just in the beautiful flower petal hearts on this paper doll)!

Perhaps you've seen them around YOUR town ...

Paper hearts hanging in stores and restaurants ...

Fund raisers for various charities -

I found paper hearts at my local market; and decided to do some research.

What I found was our local chapter of CCA (Children's Cancer Association).

And fell in love with their mission statement.

"We prescribe joy.

For children diagnosed with serious illness and their families, every moment is precious. At CCA, our goal is to transform as many of those moments as possible — with joy.

Why joy?

Because in the fight against devastating illness, joy is often forgotten. Because joy connects us with the power of hope, comfort, and happiness and helps families and children feel uplifted when their lives have been turned upside down. Because joy is something every child deserves."

 In a break from "Guest Heart Thursday" tradition, I am issuing a challenge to you, the heart seekers of the world - to buy a heart - or make a donation to a charity local to your area, take a picture of your heart, and post it on your blog sometime in February!

Then link it up to Guest Heart Thursday!

It doesn't have to be today - there is still a lot more time!

Not only will you find a lovely heart to share ... but you will help to spread love and joy around the world - and help someone who needs it desperately in the process!

Just a note: I haven't been online for a while - mostly because of the weather. You see, we live in a drafty old farm house, heated only by a single wood stove in the living room. My computer is tucked into a corner of a different room, and when it is cold outside ... well, let's just say I've had to run my hands under warm water twice this morning - just to post this much - and I can no longer feel my toes!

I can't wait until warmer weather so that I can come back and visit you all more often.

Craft Store Heart

I had taken my daughter to a large chain crafts store to get supplies for a Christmas project she was working on.

As we left the store, I happened to glance down at the red "No Parking" curb ... only to see this cute little heart.

My daughter pretended not to know me as I whipped out my camera and took a picture!
