The chickens got out the other day, free ranging through the yard and beyond. They had a ball! I hated to put them back in the pen, but it's for their own safety. We have owls, hawks, eagles, possums, skunks, raccoons, and the occasional cougar -- all of whom would love a nice chicken dinner.
During their day of foraging, the ladies scraped and clawed everything in sight. Including this patch of dirt.
I found the heart after the chickens had been rounded up and, with much complaining, deposited back into safety.

I saw a random ice heart on another blog today and thought of you Clytie. You can see it here: http://www.saltlakedailyphoto.com/
Even the chickens like hearts!! I can imagine they complained bitterly! LOL!

The girls love you! Wish we could keep chickens, fresh eggs are the best, but even if we could keep the coyotes away, our own kitties would probably find a way to get em! and BTW, you're one of the least "creatively challenged" artists ever!
Heehee...I LOVE it! The ladies left you a heart, eh? I wonder if it was "the vulture." (grin)
I'm so glad you got 'em back into that pen. Cluck cluck. (guffaw)
Hey, Sweetest of Sisters--thank you for your precious kind words, thoughts and prayers after the death of our dear little kitty. ((hugs))
Be sure to drop by to pick up a little Thank You, which you can find on my art blog. I hope you like it, Sissyboo!
It's only right that your chickens should leave you a little valentine for your loving care...how sweet. Love you Cea.
That act shows your heart too!
Nice find!!
