And it Smells Better Than It Looks!

I took a long walk today at the abandoned church.
And found a beautiful blossoming tree.
I don't know what kind of tree it is,
But it's scent is divine!!!

Ripped Jeans

We all laughed
Like crazy people --
To see the hole in my jeans ...

I "knee(d)" this heart?

A misty backdrop
Before the sunrise ...

Hearts in silhouette
High in the tree ...

Moss blown down by last week's windstorms.

Broken Skylight

Photo credit for this heart goes to my daughter, Victoria.
The one I took ... well, it didn't even turn out!

It does my 'heart' good when I realize
That others are seeing
The hearts that are all around!

Plastered

I was walking at the (now nearly completely vandalized and destroyed) abandoned church across the street when I saw this bit of ceiling material that had fallen from the outside foyer area.

Looks like this heart is a little plastered?

Another Lichen Heart ...

A tiny branch,
Blown down with the wind
Onto the forest floor.

Brings me a hint
At the hearts up above
That I have missed before!!!

Cabbage Stem

I made a stir fry last night - and look what I found on the cutting board!

Foiled Again!

I was walking on the road yesterday - a rare sunny day around here! I saw the heart as I was walking, and actually had to do a double-take and walk back to see if I had really seen it.

Trash, thrown from someone's car, flattened by traffic ... became a beautiful treasure.

I'm just glad I was passing that way.

And that there was no traffic!

Happy 200th Heart Post!

I didn't realize back on February 21, 2009
That I would still be finding hearts
Everywhere - nearly a year later!!!

And yet ...
I'm not surprised.

Happy 200th Heart Post!

Deflated

Once upon a time
This balloon floated on the breeze.
Free.

Now, deflated
It's another random heart
Captured.

Wild Blackberry Leaves

YOU are one leaf.
I am the other.

Together, we make a beautiful heart!

Oily Pavement Rainbow Heart

It was raining so hard
This oily heart
Was gone in seconds.

You can still see
The vague outline
Of the rainbow heart.

The Frosting on the Cake!

Red balloons on a cake ...
When sliced through ...
Create a heart so red ...
So luscious ...

But I can't give in ... alas, no fats, no sugars, no sodium.
Remember this, Clytie.
Stay away from temptation.

Look at the picture and marvel -
But keep the fork in the drawer.

It's too perfect to eat anyway, right?

Work of Heart

I found this empty water bottle in the woods.
Thrown from a passing car ...

I really like the sentiment - "Work of Heart",
But littering is still littering.

I brought it home
And put it in the Recycle bin.

A Hearty Breakfast!

In my quest to find yummy things to eat that are healthy, I have discovered this wonderful cereal - complete with freeze-dried fruit bits.

I poured some into a bowl, and had to laugh.

You guessed it, a perfect heart fell out right on top!

I think I'm going to like this healthy eating!

Liken' This Lichen ...

Our cool wet winters here in the Pacific Northwest bring an amazing array of colorful lichens, mushrooms and all things fungal.

These bright yellow hearts brighten our lives and remind us that not all is dreary and dark this time of year.

Fallen Leaf Heart

This lately fallen leaf
Finally let go
And gave in to Winter
After holding on for so long ...

And in doing so,
Shared it's heart.

Nativity Angel Heart

She has hung over the nativity since before I was born.
Proclaiming a heartful JOY!

Mom puts the nativity up shortly after Thanksgiving.
It has become a tradition to leave it up
Until the first flower of spring
Blooms.

Sometimes I find a single violet in January.
I bring it to her in a tiny vase, to grace her office table.

To remind us that spring does indeed follow winter.
That JOY is proclaimed year-round!

It's good for the heart.
And the soul.

Aluminum Door

I am so surprised I haven't seen this heart before.
I have seen this door every day.
I have slammed this door.
I have opened and closed this door.
I have scrubbed this door.

And still I missed the heart!

Until yesterday, when I looked down in just the right light ...
And there it was.

Waiting for me all this time!

Home Depot Surprise

I found this odd-shaped heart ...

And the delicate silhouette of a beautiful maiden and gentleman (look at the black - they look like they are reaching out to each other across a large chasm).

All on the front hood of an old mini-van parked at the Home Depot!!!

ABC's of 2009

Alright, alright ... I know ABC gum is kinda gross ...

A (already) B (been) C (Chewed)

But when I see it in the grocery store parking lot, and it is in the shape of a heart ... well, nothing is sacred!!!

I decided to name my ABC heart - 2009.
A year passed - chewed up, the flavor gone but remembered, and spat out.

Ready for a new flavor for
2010!

I'm thinking Wintergreen.
Either that or I'm just chilly this morning.

Happy New Year!
