Bedraggled by Rain

I found this poor bedraggled and debris-strewn heart in the parking lot ... at the edge of a puddle which had receded a bit ...
I didn't notice the poor little potato bug until I was cropping the picture.
Too much water, even for him.

Shoe Store Heart

Look what I found at the shoe store!
Someone had tried on these cute sandals,
But first they had to remove the padding.

The sandals weren't for them, but when they left ...
They left this styrofoam heart!

Do you see them both?

Guest Heart Thursday #7

My sister Beth, of Beth's Artworx, found this gorgeous rust spot last year.

A perfect rusty heart!

Two of my favorite people in Blogland are Abe and Patty Lincoln.
Abe's bird blog is amazing - their garden is filled with wildlife, which seem to be drawn to Abe and Patty. Abe is truly a genius with a camera.

Abe hasn't been well lately, and he wanted to get a picture of this poppy that was blooming in his yard. His wonderful wife Patty went out and took the picture for him. Patty brightens my days with her delightful and funny-as-all-get-out blog "Old Lady Lincoln".

They didn't know it at the time, but the center of the poppy is a beautiful heart!

And Gina, over at Antique Art Garden loves the heart she has in her garden.
Especially when she captures this beauty in the snow.

But Gina's most recent find was a bunch of strawberry hearts she found while cutting up these beauties for breakfast!

Great capture, Gina!

And finally, there's Sunny of Barnyards and Barnacles. She actually found a heart in one of my photos - that I missed!

So I returned the favor, and found this beautiful cloud heart in her Weekend Reflections post last week!

Thank you, Sunny!

Have you found a random heart? If so, I want to see it, and feature it in my next "Guest Heart Thursday"!

All you have to do is send me an e-mail (info in my sidebar) and either attach your heart or send me a link to where it is.

Or just leave a comment here, and I will find you!!!

A Rusty Heart for Owen

I don't usually dedicate hearts to anyone, though I have on occasion.
This is one such occasion, because ...
This is where I concede to Owen
over at Magic Lantern Show ...
That his rhododendrons are better than mine.

When I say better, I mean they are taller.
And older.
And Owen definitely showed way more dedication to finding his ... a three hour hike through the woods!!! I just had to walk across the street to the abandoned church ...

Everything else about our rhodies is a tie!

So ... Owen, this abandoned and rusty heart is for you.
I certainly enjoy your blog - I especially love your sense of humor.
Thank you for making me smile.
Thank you for making me laugh.

Oh, and thanks for the mention of Random Nature!
It made my day.

Raindrop and Heart on Vanilla Leaf

My patch of vanilla leaf plants is healthy and strong ... and simply lovin' this rain.
With views like this -- I guess I'm lovin' this rain as well.

And the heart in the background? In one blurry picture ... it looks like this is the hind quarters of a large hairy spider. I'm so glad I didn't see him at the time!!

My sister Beth is an amazing artist.
This is her first watercolor!

If you're not acquainted with her art, please visit her blog - Beth's Artworx.
You won't be disappointed!

Look what Terra found!
A strawberry heart!

Terra has an adorable blog called Terra Garden.
She is from California, and is a published author!
But more than that, she is a wonderful person.

Sunny, the creator of one of my favorite blogs Barnyards and Barnacles, found this awesome heart nick in her back door!
She is an amazing photographer, and finds the cutest things ...

Like this wonderful heart!

And Lois of Tallahassee Daily Photo is seeing the hearts in her world as well!

Don't you love the raindrops on this big leafy heart?

Love you, Lois!

One of the most unique hearts I've had the pleasure of seeing is from
Debby at Just Breathe.

You've got the eye, my friend!

I love it when people find random hearts!

Have you found a random heart?
If so, please let me know.

I'd love to feature YOUR heart on the next

Red Pepper Heart

I am constantly amazed at how many hearts I find --
In the kitchen!

Someone had used part of this red pepper, then stashed it back into the carton.

Where I found it -

A Red Pepper Heart!

Bittersweet Heart ...

European Bittersweet, Solanum dulcamara

Also known as nightshade.

When I took the picture, I had the camera at an angle looking up to try and catch the beautiful flowers. It wasn't until I looked more closely at the picture that I realized ...

It was a bittersweet heart.

Forest Snail Leaves Trail

I almost stepped on him in the early morning light.
The forest snail that visited my place.

Then I had to laugh ...
Look at that bottom spot of his trail ...

He left me a heart!!!

Guest Heart Thursday #5

Lois found another one!
Just look at this wonderful huge rock heart.
This is the kind of doorstop I would love to have!

Please visit Lois over at Tallahassee Daily Photo. She finds the most interesting information about the places she visits - and takes amazing photos of those places.

And she's starting to be an awesome heart-finder as well!

Let me introduce Claudia.
She's from Guatamala, where the summer is just about over, and fall is in the air.

I have so much fun looking at her blog - Claudia's Desk - especially when she finds beautiful high-flying hearts!!!

Cheryl almost didn't post these beautiful rhubarb leaves.
She thought they were too ordinary.

As if ANY heart could be ordinary!!!

Cheryl's delightful blog is NOSTALGIA: Today and Yesterday. You should check it out, and when you do, be sure to go back through her older posts. She has THE EYE to see what most people miss.

I also have to say ... Cheryl is the first follower (besides my sister Beth) I ever had on any of my blogs. She helped me so much when I was new, and gave me a confidence I never would have had.
Thank you, Cheryl, I appreciate you.

And finally, Beth over at Expect the Unexpected found this delicate heart floating just over the chimney at her house.

It's absolutely perfect ... but then, she also has THE EYE to see what most people miss.

Thank you, sissie!

The sun peaked out from the clouds for a few minutes yesterday, highlighting this beautiful jewel of spider web.
(click the picture to enlarge for more detail)

In the center was a heart.

My Fine Feathered Friends ...

I found this feather heart yesterday, stuck in a Hawthorne tree.

It made a nice change from the bird bop hearts my little flying friends usually give me!!!

Another Lichen Heart ...

It's been an amazing year for lichens.
And mosses.
And hearts!

Wall Shadow Heart - Shadow Shot Sunday

I wandered the abandoned church this morning,
Mothers Day ... and more.

I found this beautiful shadow heart
and thought of All Mothers.

Because we all have one,
Know one,
Are one.

Today's shadow heart is my entry to Shadow Shot Sunday.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

Leaf Heart Eaten

The past few days have been a joy to me - I've been able to spend an hour or so each day tramping through the woods - if only sissie were here to share it!

I found this heart-shaped insect eaten hole in a huge leaf at the bottom of the canyon near the creek. As I leaned over to take a picture, I noticed the late afternoon sunlight highlighting a leaf under the hole ... creating this beautiful bright green heart.

And yes, I see the little shadowy heart on it's side just below.

Guest Heart Thursday #4

Last year, during a sisterly challenge, my sister Beth over at Beth's Artworx, found this delightful and different Dead Spider Leg Heart.

Beth is a wonderful artist, dabbling in all mediums. But it is her cloud paintings that have inspired me the most. I find myself remembering to 'look up' now ... I tend to keep my nose to the ground a lot ... there's a lot to be seen up there above my head!

And look what Darlene at A Dancing Mango found in her garden!
A rock heart!!!

What a wonderful addition to her garden. I'm jealous!

If you haven't discovered Darlene's art, then you are truly missing out. She is a talented, imaginative and gifted artist. The dolls she makes ... have eyes that reach to the heart of my very soul.

Have you found a heart?
Please let me know - I'd love to spotlight YOUR hearts!
on Guest Heart Thursday!

Just send me an e-mail - either attach your heart, or send me a link to where I can find it.
I have decided to try something new ...
I created a special e-mail address -
foundaheart@yahoo.com
Try it out!
I'd love to hear from you ...

Besides, I have to know if the e-mail works!!!
Tee hee.

Bird Bop Heart - Again??!!

I wonder why
The birds keep
Leaving me these hearts.

Everywhere I go, it seems I find
That they have been there before me.
Bee-Bopping along, so to speak.

So I'm not going to complain,
I'm going to rejoice!
Another Bird Bop Heart!!!

Just for me.

Spit Bug Heart

Okay I guess they are actually called "spittlebugs" - for obvious reasons.

"The spittlebug sucks the juices out of the plant and froths up the exudate to make this hiding place."

In other words ...

"This spit bug used plant juices to make a frothy bubbly heart in which to hide!"

Shadows on Heart - Shadow Shot Sunday

I was walking in the woods, nature journal in hand, when the sun broke through the trees overhead - highlighting this tiny heart-shaped leaf.

White Rhododendron Heart

The rhododendrons are blooming all over the grounds of the abandoned church across the street. As I was trying to capture their beauty, I noticed the shape of this group of blossoms -

A heart!
