Bittersweet Heart ...

European Bittersweet, Solanum dulcamara

Also known as nightshade.

When I took the picture, I had the camera at an angle looking up to try and catch the beautiful flowers. It wasn't until I looked more closely at the picture that I realized ...

It was a bittersweet heart.

amazing! i've never seen one of these but have heard of nightshade for many years. it's an awesome but sinister looking plant...and to think that you found a heart here was too much to take...you are so right and it is so cool!!

I wonder how it got its name...

Is there more than one kind of nightshade? The ones I have seen are more blue than purple and bright yellow.

Clytie,
So nice to be here.. I left comments on my site. It will explain my life a bit right now.
I am so happy to see this posting.. these almost look like what we have here in Wisconsin, "shooting stars"..
I love it!
You amaze me..

I love the pretty violet in combination with the yellow. They kind of look like my Nightshade. You are so heart observant...hats off to you for spotting a Bittersweet Heart. Love you.
