I learned something yesterday that I had never known before ...
Or maybe I had just never noticed before ...
Barn owls have heart-shaped faces!
I caught this juvenile owl staring at me from the rafters of the abandoned church ... after the full grown parent with it exploded out of the niche they had under the ceiling tiles and flew out the broken windows. Once my heart started again ... well, this is what I found.
I just love his little heart face!
Don't you?

I love those birds. They gave me a lot of feathers this year... But I 've been sad for them too, cause just around my town I could count four of them killed by cars... They fly to low, and drivers are too distrated and go too fast by night to try to avoid them... :/
Hey - this is a GREAT catch! I love it!
wonderous! I wish we heard more owls here, my last place we used to have the pleasure regularly! Thanks
Good heavens! How COOL is that? One just never knows what one might see in The Abandoned! If you see the photo and what I wrote on The Abandoned blog, you'll be surprised that we were on the same page--you have the owl, I have the other. lol
Yes, totally! I do love that face! I'm not sure I've ever seen a real barn owl. This is a great catch!
Beautiful capture..in my part of country a visit of an owl is considered lucky .
