Orange Berries

This ornamental tree across the street is weighed down with striking orange berries this time of year.

A bunch of hearts that greet me each time I drive out of my driveway!

Cabbage Leaf Heart

Sissie was visiting for the day! We decided to make a stirfry for dinner. As I was getting ready to remove the outside leaves from this head of cabbage, guess what I found! Hearts! We were so excited!

Flower Petal Surprise

I captured this beautiful hot pink flower petal heart yesterday.

The surprise?

I was photographing this beautiful butterfly - sipping nectar from a beautiful flower ... with heart shaped petals.

Through The Window

Street artists had been hard at work at the abandoned church; nearly every surface covered with detailed work. Destructive vandals have also been on hand, destroying everything in their path.

Several large paintings had graced this particular wall. I guess someone didn't like them, because they have kicked holes through the art and drywall into the empty room beyond.

I saw the debris, but didn't see the heart until I was outside, looking through the broken window in the early morning light.

Rainbow Cloud

She called me this morning, my sister Beth. She couldn't believe the clouds ... if you know her, you know she was seeing (and photographing) angels. She gasped - "Oh my! There's a rainbow in one of those clouds!" She doesn't see me stick my tongue out at the phone. The NOT cordless phone. All I can see are leaves through a dirty window! Of course there would be a rainbow at her house! She always gets the best clouds!!!

Huh! Rainbow in the clouds, indeed! We talk for a while then hang up. Now I can go out and look. I gasp - There's a rainbow in one of those clouds! (If you enlarge the picture, you will see it better) And the cloud is a heart!

I take back that sticking out tongue thing, sissie. Oh and sissie, there is a dove in the heart too!

Cinnamon Swirl Toast

Breakfast treat!
Cinnamon Swirl Toast.
With margarine.

Do you see the heart?

I did ...
But I didn't let it stop me -
It tasted as good as it looked!

River Rocks Again

Yesterday in the early morning I had the chance to stop by the Molalla River at Knights Bridge and wander for a few minutes along the rocky shore. I've never been able to pass up a "pretty rock", so I soon had a pocket full of agates, carnelian and other shiny stones.

When I got home I decided to take a picture of my finds. I was completely amazed when I turned over a particularly beautiful and shiny piece of carnelian to see the back, and found this heart worn onto the rough surface!

River Rocks

I love to wander by the river.
Early in the day.
Listening to its music.
Hearing what it has to say.

Today I stopped by for a minute.
To listen to its song.
I shared a short time with the magic.
Before moving along.

The river left me a message,
A heart carved in a tiny stone.
Come visit me more often it said,
And you will never be alone.

Let's Play! (Doh!)

What else but Play Doh could make this bright yellow heart? I found it on the playground, and if you enlarge it you can see the sneaker prints left by the kid(s) who dropped it.

Harvey's Heart

Harvey the Gnome is traveling the world via Blogland. Progress of his journey can be found at his Blog of Residence with Michelle. Harvey found this heart yesterday in front of a broken down carport tent, and was more than happy to show it off! Thank you Harvey!!!

Cloudy Skies

The weather here has been so hot lately that it was a relief when the clouds came pouring in yesterday afternoon, with plenty of rain. I could almost hear the parched earth's giant "slurrrrrrp ... ahhhhhhhh" as the first drops fell.

When the clouds broke up a bit, I caught this beautiful heart, all decked out in sunset pink.

Dried Up Apple Core

Someone set this apple core aside as a special treat for the chickens. When I went to take it out to my cackling entourage, I noticed the heart. I just had to take a picture of it before letting the 'ladies' enjoy their breakfast.

Crumpled Paper

Some hearts last forever.
Some hearts don't.
To me, all hearts bring joy ...
If only for a moment.

Spilled Coffee - For Dad

I am dedicating this post to my dad. He loves coffee and makes the best in the house. Yesterday when he and my mom were driving home from my sister's house, he somehow drove off the freeway and rolled his car multiple times. Mom is okay, but dad has some severe injuries. He was nearly scalped and fractured a vertebra in his neck (sounds less ominous than "he broke his neck"). He will be recovering for a long time. The wonderful part is that he WILL be recovering for a long time. God willing.

So this coffee is for you, Dad! I love you and I'm praying for you.

Caught in a Web

I was in a rush; we had a bus to catch - we were going to be gone all day. As I was backing out of the driveway, a spider's web caught my eye, sparkling in the early morning sunlight. I grabbed my camera and snapped a few pictures. If you click on the web to enlarge it, you will see the heart I found just above Mr. Spider.

Oak Burl

I love to find burls ... they have the most amazing designs. This one is at the foot of an old oak tree near our house. The heart is just an added bonus of beauty.

Found - Treasure at Goodwill

Two hours to kill.
My daughter by my side.
A Goodwill Surplus store just down the street.
How could I resist?
Why would I want to?

Digging through the bins,
Searching for treasure!
And found hearts - treasure indeed.
Then they were stolen!
By my daughter, who is now wearing hearts
in her ears, at her neck, on her wrist.

Yes, treasure indeed!!!
