My Christmas experiment (we decided to not exchange gifts this year, and to concentrate on CHRISTMAS) benefited my life in ways I will always remember!
Christmas Day was peaceful, quiet, warm and happy.
Most of all, the stress which has always surrounded Christmas was gone.
Just ... gone.
The weather cooperated enough for us to take a short walk and enjoy the silence of the day ... and, of course, to find a heart!
Will I do this again?
Exchange chaos for peace?
Presents for presence?
Shopping for family and friends?
The answer is ... a resounding YES!

Merry Christmas, Clytie! Congratulations on successfully returning to the spirit of things. I've no hope of following your example (without becoming "the strange aunt") but I admire your family's ideals. Happy New Year!
a beautiful heart from God to you and your family and a wonderful way to spend Christmas.
love to you clytie.... great experiment.... we've done it that way for a good few years now & yes, so much more peaceful & meaningful!
