What Scared the Teenagers???

I was startled last night by screams coming from the (formerly) abandoned property across the street ... I went outside, only to hear a pair of young girls running as fast as they could down the parking lot, around the fence, and up the street (screaming the whole way). They were followed by a couple of guys, who kept calling at them, asking them to come back.

"It was probably just a bat you heard," one of them yelled.
To no avail ... the girls kept running, probably until they reached their car.

Was it a deer that scared the kids?
Or something else?

I went over this morning to investigate in the light of day ...
And heard sounds in the vents at the top of one of the rooms ...
scritch ... scratch ... scritch ... scratch ...

It was a baby owl - with a cute little heart-shaped face!
Actually there were at least two of them, but the others were camera shy.
This one just stood there and looked at me - its eyes glowing in the light. Each time it moved, its claws skittered across the metal of the vent.

It's just as well the teenagers ran away!

Oh, hahahaha...no WONDER they ran! LOL If I were them, heard the sounds, then glanced up to see eyes glowing in dark, I'd bolt too. lol

At any rate, I love that little fellow. He has a LOT of personality. You caught that baby owl really well. (Grin)

I have to say--this fills my eyes, Sissy.
