A Heart For My SISSIES

Sissie and I left home early Wednesday morning ... we drove to the beach for a super special day.

Our first stop was Boiler Bay. What a perfect and gorgeous day!

But the best part was yet to come.

Because the reason we drove to the beach that day was to meet up with Cheryl.
(She's the gorgeous lady on the right - Beth is the equally gorgeous lady on the left)
When I was a blogging newbie, Beth was my first "follower".
Cheryl was my second.
From the moment we met in person, we knew we were part of a wonderful sisterhood!!!

This one's for you, my SISTERS!
(and for the other bloggy sissies and bros I have met - you know who you are!)

Guest Heart Thursday #129

Welcome to Guest Heart Thursday -
A Place to Share YOUR Heart!

 Do you love postcards?
I do!
That's why I love visiting Max at "The Blog About the Postcards".
Especially when I find gorgeous postcards -- with hearts on them!

Thank you, Max, for sharing your heart!

I love Pat.
She's REAL! And she's hysterically funny!!!
When you visit her blog, "A View from the Edge", be sure to bring along a few tissues - you will need them to wipe the tears of laughter from your eyes!

Pat found these hearts at a beautiful outdoor wedding she attended.
Aren't they wonderful?

Thank you, Pat, for sharing your heart!

When you visit Nancy over at "A Rural Journal", you will find rural treasure.
Nancy is one of the hosts of the popular blog hop "Rural Thursday" - which I've been meaning to join someday ... but for some reason I become otherwise occupied on Thursdays! (smile)

Nancy posted this pumpkin just in time for Autumn ... and look at those leafy hearts in the background!

Thank you, Nancy, for sharing your heart!

I was visiting Evelyn's wonderful blog, "Within My Focus" when I came upon her vulture post. I was fascinated, having never seen one up close. Then I noticed one of the birds was posing in the shape of a heart!!!

Thank you, Evelyn, for sharing your heart!

Andrea is an incredible photographer - who posted these tiny but gorgeous heartlets on her blog "Andrea in this Lifetime". I can't wait to go back and visit again when I can spend a lot more time admiring her blog!

Thank you, Andrea, for sharing your heart!

As always - a huge thank you to all who linked up with Guest Heart Thursday last week. I loved seeing the delightful and amazing hearts you found in your world!

Square Raindrop on Heart

I originally posted this on my nature blog ...
But I just had to share it here too.
After last week's day of drizzle and rain, there was a morning of sunshine, and I was overwhelmed with the beauty I found in my world.

Then I found this heart.

And if you click on the photo to enlarge it, you will see something even more special ...
The raindrop in the center appears to be SQUARE!!!

Brick Wall Heart

My daughter and I went for a long walk the other day, past the new "high density" housing development just up the street.

A new brick wall had been built near the entrance.

I was happy to find a heart in the wall!

Weatherstripping Heart

A length of torn-up weatherstripping shared its heart and shadow with me.

To see more shadow pictures, visit "Shadow Shot Sunday".

Leaf Clump Heart

I was walking along the lip of the little canyon when this clump of green caught my eye - all the way over on the other side.

I couldn't get a very good picture ... my camera has issues with anything other than bright sunlight ... but I could still tell it was a clumpy green heart!

And because it is green, I am linking it up with "Green Day" - where all things green can be found!

It was posted by Beth (my sissie!) over at "The Best Hearts Are Crunchy".

Beth hosts "Postcard Friendship Friday", and I love visiting the wonderful postcards from around the world that are linked up each week!

Thank you, Sissie, for sharing your heart!

The Fourth of July is special ... I love visiting my sister's home in Independence, Oregon for their Independence Day celebration. I missed it this year, and am determined to never do so again!

Beth caught this amazing puff of firework smoke heart to post on her blog, "Expect the Unexpected".

Thank you, sissie, for sharing your fireworks ... and your heart!

Then there are these unique graffiti hearts ... caught over at "The Abandoned" ...
On a long walk with Beth ...

Backyard Cloud Heart

I was working in the back yard the other day, when I noticed a few stray cloud hearts had moved in overhead!

I've decided to link up with Tina's "ein stuck himmel (A Piece of Heaven)"

Welcome to Guest Heart Thursday -
A Place to Share YOUR Heart!
(I am going to be gone for the day today ... for the first time in several years I get to spend the day at the beach ... if you have ever read my sidebar you will know it's my favorite place in the world. I hope to return tonight with a new-found peace, tranquility, heart and lots of sand in my shoes! I will visit you all tomorrow - I can't wait to see the hearts you found in YOUR worlds this week!)

Brianne's journal makes me smile ... and fills me with a desire to capture my own thoughts ...
Her blog, "This is My Offering" fills me with joy and peace.
I love to visit ... and stay a while.

Thank you, Brianne, for sharing your heart!

Theresa's heart made me smile as well. What a rare find!
Is that a watermelon heart?

Theresa shares bits and pieces of her life on her blog, "All Things Old and New" ... with a wonderful and fresh perspective of life.

Thank you, Theresa T, for sharing your heart!

P.S. - Thank you for saving the honeybees' dandelions, er, lawn!

Texwisgirl did it again ... this time the link she sent was for this awe-inspiring hawk posted by Forest Snapper on his blog, "My Photos..."

If you click on this picture to enlarge the shot, you will see the most amazing hearts on this magnificent bird's chest feathers.
And all I can say is "WOW".

Thank you, Forest Snapper, for sharing your heart!
Thank you, AGAIN, Texwisgirl, for sharing the link!

Isn't this one of the most welcoming of doors - with hearts in the window?

This is a postcard submitted by Lostforwords on her blog, "Connections to the World".

I love how she provided the wonderful background for this postcard -

I Heart IRFD!

So ... what is IRFD?

I'm so glad you asked!!!

This is the day hundreds of people around the world spend some time outside ... flipping over rocks to document what's underneath (then putting the rocks back in place carefully, of course, they are home for lots of critters).

Susannah, over at "Wanderin' Weeta (With Waterfowl and Weeds)" has gotten me excited about IRFD for a couple of years now. But for some reason by the time the proper day rolls around ...I forget.

Not this year!!!

I walked across to the abandoned building ... surely they had some large rocks to flip!
There was a good sized rock, right near where Jesus used to stand! (did I mention the abandoned building used to be a church?)

Nope, couldn't even budge it.
Or the next one. Or the one after that.
It was like the rocks were cemented into place or something!

I decided that I would just take a pretty picture ... showing texture and colors.
Of course THIS one flipped right over!

Not much to see. A partially flattened fir cone, a few twigs.

Some kind of twirly insect casing, a stainless steel tree tag, some tree debris, a couple bits of moss, and a rusty piece of metal.

I found no critters whatsoever under any of the rocks I flipped.
It must be just too dry.

As I was getting ready to head home ... I found this cute little heart on a brick near the destroyed outdoor fireplace.

I flipped it, too ... just some dried grass was underneath.

I hope you found some time today to enjoy your world ... and flipped a rock or two of your own!

Another graffiti Heart

I have been trying to get back into the swing of things, with my goal being to post a heart a day for a while. Sometimes life gets in the way.

Yesterday I was stung on the hand by a bald faced hornet.
Within half an hour I was breaking out into hives.
Even after taking 2 allergy tabs, the hives continued to spread. And ITCH.

I ended up at the ER, and was told I am allergic to hornets! (ya think???)

They pumped me with all kinds of antihistamines and things. The itching faded, as did the hives. The doctor told me I may have stopped breathing had I not thought to take the two allergy tablets at home before I came in.
For 24 hours I have to take medicine - that's how long the toxins will stay in my system.

Sigh. I only hope I will feel well enough to go outside this afternoon and flip a rock!

Guest Heart Thursday #126

Welcome to Guest Heart Thursday -
A Place to Share YOUR Heart!

I love to hang out over at "Tina's PicStory's" place ...

Tina amazes and inspires me!!!
I especially love the hearts she finds in her world.

Thank you, Tina, for sharing your heart!

I love the pictures Beth shares on her blog, "Expect the Unexpected".

Beth is an incredible artist as well ... and she often hides hearts in her drawings.
You can find her beautiful artwork over at "Beth's Artworx".

Thank you, sissie, for sharing your heart!

I love visiting Lisbon ...
Especially when I get to see it's beauty through the eyes and camera of JM of "Oeiras and environs daily photo". I love the buildings he frequently features - especially when they have hearts in their windows!!!

Thank you, JM, for sharing your heart!

I had to gasp when I saw this deer racing through Roan's blog, "Rubbish by Roan".

Do you see the heart?
It's in the little puff of dust the deer is kicking up!!!

Thank you, Roan, for sharing your heart!

Susannah posted another picture that made me gasp.
Look at those hearts on the anemone tentacles!!!
And did you know this Sunday, September 9th, is
INTERNATIONAL ROCK FLIPPING DAY???

If you haven't heard about this wonderful and fun way to get out and discover your world -- check out Susannah's blog, "Wanderin' Weeta (With Waterfowl and Weeds)"!

Then get out there on Sunday and FLIP OVER A ROCK!!!

As always - a huge thank you to all who linked up with Guest Heart Thursday last week. I loved seeing the delightful and amazing hearts you found in your world!

Autumn Grass Blade Heart

Autumn is sneaking up quickly.
The grass blades, once vibrantly green, are starting to turn yellow and brown at the tips.

Some of them are becoming hearts!

Working for Heart

Last winter was hard.
Dad needed a constant fire; wood was scarce.
(Our house is old, with only the fireplace to keep it warm. Dad is 86 this year, and is always cold).
Last month, my neighbor went to work driving for a pallet company.
Instead of sending their scrap wood to the dump, they have been cutting it up, storing it in wooden boxes, and delivering it to us.
I have spent hours and hours sorting and stacking ...

It will all be worth it this winter, when I need to keep a fire going ...
Dad will finally be warm.

It kind of warms the heart, doesn't it???

Lichen Heart

It had been a while since I took a walk.
I don't do well in heat, and it's been quite warm and dry here this summer.

Plus there's all that wood to sort and stack ...
(but that's another story!)

I brought mom and dad over to the park for a picnic with the grandkids they don't get to see nearly enough - what a wonderful day!
If it wasn't for Jenna and Tiffi, though, I would have sat at the table the whole time.
But they convinced me to grab my camera and walk around.
We held hands and laughed ... we sat on the swings and pointed our feet to the sky ...
We talked and talked ... and found hearts.

Sigh. Thank you Jenna and Tiffi ... I needed that!!!
And Jon ... thank you. You're awesome, and you know how to listen. That is a rare gift indeed!
