Oak Tree Heart ... And A Surprise!

I was walking in the Metro park just down the road, when this beautiful moss heart caught my eye ... I carefully made my way across the field, being careful not to step on any emerging plants, and got my shot.

Something at the edge of the woods caught my eye.
Shapes that were out of place.
I slowly turned ... and!!!!

And caught a deer family grazing in the field at the edge of the woods.
I told them I was just taking pictures, and they seemed to be okay with that.

As I deliberately turned and walked in the opposite direction, I looked back. They had returned to their meal.

Oh, Sissy! I love that heart--and that deer family is beautiful--I'm sure they knew you were not going to harm them. I bet they've been watching you from the woods for years.

This is interesting - just recently a number of such "found hearts" have shown up in my friends blogs, and I was wondering if this was coincidence or if that's a common occurrence. It certainly seems there are a lot more than I ever would have guessed.
